Depression

MDD, or Major Depressive Disorder, is more than just feeling sad. It's a mental health condition that requires understanding and medical care. Depression, which is often misunderstood, can affect anyone - regardless of age, race, or socioeconomic status. It involves a persistent feeling of sadness or a lack of interest in outside stimuli, leading to significant impairment in daily life.

Symptoms

Depression symptoms can vary from person to person and can seriously affect an individual's well-being. Some common symptoms include persistent feelings of sadness or emptiness, loss of interest in activities, irritability, and feelings of worthlessness or guilt. Fatigue, difficulty concentrating, changes in appetite or weight, sleep disturbances, and thoughts of self-harm or suicide are also common symptoms. It's important to note that these symptoms must persist for at least two weeks for a diagnosis of depression. In addition, medical conditions such as thyroid problems, brain tumors, or vitamin deficiencies can sometimes mimic the symptoms of depression, making it crucial to seek medical attention to properly diagnose and treat the underlying condition.
